BioBased

Discover innovation that redefines environmental responsibility, turning your production into a green journey.

Biobased compounds are manufactured to have a lower environmental impact. The raw materials used in the production of biobased compounds can include renewable natural resources such as corn starch, sugar cane, cassava, cellulose, vegetable oils and other biomasses.

    Mineral Concentrates
    Special wires and cables
    Masterbatches

    The line of Post-Industry Thermoplastic Rubbers adds excellence in Thermoplastic Elastomers to the versatility of rubbers combined with post-Industrial waste.

    This sum guarantees quality for the customer and excellence and are actions that contribute to the reduction of environmental impacts and strengthen the circular economy.

    Thermoplastic Rubber

    Also focused on actions that contribute to the reduction of environmental impacts and renewable chemistry, the CAK® PVC compound was developed from 100% of the reuse of Karina´s manufacturing waste that would have been disposed of conventionally without receiving the appropriate treatment to become a raw material again. These wastes are selected and reprocessed into a new, renewable product.

    Applications

    CAK
    Shoe soles
    Finishings used in utensils in consumable goods
    Motorcycle pedals
    Hoses
    Cable injection

    The Mineral Concentrates line was developed or designed using Post-Industry waste from our manufacturing process and also contains natural mineral fillers in its composition structure. These wastes are selected and reprocessed into a new, renewable product. Alternative product focused on actions that contribute to the reduction of environmental impacts and renewable chemistry.

    Applications

    Mineral Concentrates
    Plastic films for general use, such as bags, tarpaulins for civil construction
    Injection of garden furniture (chairs and tables)
    Bucket injection

    Karina manufactures PVC compounds to be used in the manufacture of cables for the energy, telecommunications and automotive sector according to the specific customer need and standard. Post-Industry PVC compounds contribute to the reduction of environmental impacts and renewable chemistry, are manufactured from the reprocessing of waste and disposal during the production process. As these post-industry residues have not yet had any degradation compared to PCR materials, they, in turn, can almost always return to the production process immediately ensuring the quality and properties of the final product.

    Applications

    Special wires and cables
    BWF cable insulation (LSZH/A – Locations with high occupancy density and or with difficult leak conditions);
    Power cable coverage (SHF1);
    Naval cable coverage;
    Optical cable coverage.
    Wires and cables in general

    The range of masterbatches developed using post-industrial waste based on olefinic polymers 100% sourced from our manufacturing process. These wastes are selected and reprocessed into a new, renewable product. Alternative product focused on actions that contribute to the reduction of environmental impacts and renewable chemistry.

    Applications

    Masterbatches
    General purpose plastic films, such as bags, tarpaulins for civil construction
    Garden furniture injection (chairs and tables)
    Bucket injection

    PCR

    Committed to innovation and sustainability, Karina Plásticos offers plastic solutions made with PCR
    (Post-Consumer Recycled) raw materials, contributing to the circular economy and reducing environmental impacts. We use recycled resins sourced from carefully selected and processed post-
    -consumer waste, ensuring quality, performance, and environmental responsibility in every product.

    Thermoplastic Elastomers with Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) content use raw materials recovered from products that have already been used, discarded, collected, and reprocessed to re-enter the production chain.
    Karina Plásticos’ TPE-PCR was developed for both flexible and rigid applications, using the same hydrogenated SEBS base formulated with PP. Aligned with circular economy and sustainability trends, it offers a wide range of mechanical and thermal properties, including flexibility, durability, elastic memory, and reduced environmental impact.

    Comparison of TPE-PCR, virgin TPE, and rubber

    Criterion TPE-PCR Virgin TPE Vulcanized Rubber
    Contains post-consumer recycled material Virgin resin Elastomeric polymers and additives
    Thermoplastic, moldable and reprocessable Thermoplastic, moldable and reprocessable Requires curing/vulcanization
    Greater contribution to the circular economy Depends on virgin sources More limited recycling after vulcanization
    May vary depending on PCR origin More stable and predictable Depends on compound and process
    Grips, mats, footwear, technical parts and automotive components Technical parts, seals, consumer goods and overmolding Gaskets, hoses, tires and elastic components

    TPE-PCR is a sustainable alternative for applications requiring a combination of flexibility, performance, processability, and reduced environmental impact.

    Its main strength lies in the incorporation of post-consumer recycled content without sacrificing the ease of processing characteristic of thermoplastics.
